Mrs. Lora Ann Black
School Librarian

Mrs. Lora Ann Black has served as librarian at Stewart County High School for the last eighteen years. Prior to that, she was a high school science teacher for eight years. She earned a BS in Chemistry and a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis on reading from Austin Peay State University. She has completed her Plus 30 in education and is certified in elementary education as well. She obtained her Library Information Specialist credentials from Murray State University.
She has worn many hats at SCHS over the years including class sponsor, cheerleading coach, and school improvement chair. Currently, she is the School-wide Literacy and RTI Coordinator, the Healthy Schools Team Chair, and the Class of 2017, Beta, and Book Club sponsor. She loves SCHS Homecoming and is all about the Air-Show.
She is a long-time member of the TN Association of School Librarians (TASL) and served as President in 2014. In addition, she has been the president elect/conference chair, secretary, West TN River Region Area Representative, chaired the TASL Showcase event, worked to provide library professional development, and has been active on several TASL committees. She represented TN at the American Library Association’s AASL Affiliate Assembly on several occasions.
